Forum on Research Ethics
The College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP), its Department of Philosophy, and the Philippine Health Research Ethics Board (PHREB) jointly sponsored a lecture-workshop entitled “Recent Developments in Research Ethics” on July 13, 2017 from 9:00 in the morning until 12:00 noon at the Audio-Visual Room 209 of the Palma Hall.
The forum aimed to discuss the current general rules, guidelines, and procedures in research ethics, especially in the field of health research. The program began with the opening remarks delivered by the dean of CSSP, Dr. Grace H. Aguiling-Dalisay. Soon after, the lecture-workshop proper was facilitated by Professor Reidar K. Lie, Ph.D. from the Department of Philosophy of the University of Bergen and followed by an open forum. To officially end the program, the Chairperson of PHREB, Dr. Leonardo D. de Castro, gave his closing remarks.
Others in attendance who helped make the event successful were Associate Professor Peter A. Sy from the Philosophy Department of CSSP, Professor Clemen C. Aquino, D.Phil. as the PHREB Social Science Representative, and Associate Professor Marcia Ruth Gabriela P. Fernandez as the Chairperson of the CSSP Working Group on Research Ethics (WGRE). The Office of the Associate Dean for Research, Extension, and Publications (OADREP) coordinated the entire event under the supervision of Associate Dean Gregorio E.H. del Pilar II, Ph.D.
