The Social Sciences and Philosophy Research Foundation Inc. (SSPRF) is a non-stock, non-profit, non-sectarian, educational and scientific research foundation composed of faculty members, researchers and retired professors of the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy, University of the Philippines as well as alumni of the units from which CSSP originated: the College of Liberal Arts and College of Arts and Sciences.
The Foundation is dedicated to supporting basic and applied social science research and the scholarly works of the CSSP faculty and staff. It also undertakes resource generation activities in support of CSSP initiatives and projects that aim to maintain standards of academic excellence in the College. In addition, SSPRF undertakes, jointly with the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy and other professional organizations, extramural activities to raise the level of social science teaching and research in the Philippines.
Vision
The Social Sciences and Philosophy Research Foundation, Inc. envisions a community of scholars in the social sciences and philosophy who are committed to maintaining academic excellence in the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy.
Mission
In line with the vision that it shares with CSSP and the University of the Philippines, the mission of the SSPRF is to support scholarships and research initiatives in the College as well as projects that aim to improve the working environment of scholars, enhance faculty development and promote student-centered and research-oriented education.
SSPRF Purposes and Objectives
- To conduct and support basic and applied research and scholarly work in the social sciences and philosophy;
- To support the publication and dissemination of research findings and the output of projects conducted under the auspices of the Foundation;
- To establish and maintain funds or grants in support of faculty development programs in the social sciences and philosophy;
- To manage and assist research projects and educational programs which may be initiated and established in furtherance of the objectives of the Foundation;
- To receive and/or give grants, gifts, legacies, donations, contributions, endowments and financial aids, and to make use of them as seed funds necessary to carry out the purposes and objectives of the foundation;
- To receive assignments of patents, grants, and exclusive rights to outputs of social sciences and philosophy research use and to charge reasonable fees;
- To invest or exchange any portion of its seed funds, revenues, earnings, or capital calculated to enhance the value of its properties and funds;
- To make, perform, and carry out contracts of every kind and description pertaining to purposes of the Foundation to borrow or raise money with or without collateral, if and when necessary to promote the best interests of the Foundation, consistent with its purposes set forth.

The corporate power of the Foundation is exercised by the Board of Trustees. They conduct its business, and control and administer the foundation’s properties.

Membership
The Social Sciences and Philosophy Research Foundation, Inc. envisions a community of scholars in the social sciences and philosophy who are committed to maintaining academic excellence in the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP). Membership in SSPRF is on a yearly basis. Life-time membership is accorded to incorporators.
Membership Types
– Charter/Lifetime members are those named as incorporators in the Articles of Incorporation
– Regular members are individuals admitted after the date of the incorporation of the Foundation. They shall qualify to become a Regular member if they are faculty or researchers of the College, upon application and approval by the Board.
– Alumni members are those admitted by the Board with a one-time fee determined by the Board.
– Honorary members are individuals elected by the Board through invitation who have distinguished themselves in their respective disciplines and shall not pay membership fees.
