It is basic for the faculty members of the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy to orient and familiarize themselves with the different administrative offices of the college and the university that could help them fulfill their basic functions as teachers and scholars. These offices, from the Chancellor to the Colleges, Departments, and Institutes, are in charge of facilitating the necessary operations and procedures requested by the faculty members. Submitting specific forms and documentary requirements are the essential parts of accomplishing these operations and procedures. Undeniably, these take significant time and effort on the part of the faculty, not to mention the unnecessary confusion for those unfamiliar with the bureaucratic processes of the university.
Hence, this manual was written to collate and organize the various procedural necessities of the college’s administrative offices and serve as a general handbook or manual of operations for the CSSP faculty’s perusal. It deals mainly with the processes or the necessary steps to avail different services offered by the university and acquire privileges, permits, grants, and basic documents such as research dissemination grant, travel permits, renewal of appointment and the like.
This manual is divided into six parts:
1. Research concerns
2. Graduate education concerns
3. Teaching concerns
4. Facilities and other services
5. Technical services
6. Extension concerns
In each section, different operations were identified and the step-by-step procedures were particularized through narrative and flow charts for better comprehension. At the latter part of the manual, the appendix section includes reproductions of required forms mentioned throughout the text.
